Beaches in Benidorm PDF Print E-mail

The beaches of Benidorm are amongst the best in Europe and have all been awarded the prized "Blue Flag".  This award is given for the high standard of cleanliness and the measures taken to ensure the safety of the bathers. There are lifeguards every few hundred metres, and the local police patrols are very strong in and around these areas making sure that tourists are as safe as possible.

Playa Levante

Or “Sunrise beach” as it is other wise known runs along the eastern side of the town, it is a little over 2 kilometres in length with over 5,000 sun beds. You will often find people sunbathing here even in January and February when there are frequent nice days where the weather is in the 20's.

This beach is very busy in the summer months, and is ideal for families. The waves are gentle, the water quite shallow and the sand easy for kids to transform into sand castles.

The wide, palm lined promenade is virtually traffic free (except for service vehicles) and is lined with bars, café’s and restaurants many of which have outdoor seating and great ocean views. The side streets are lined with "Euro" shops and small supermarkets where ice cream, baguettes, bikinis and sun hats.

Holiday makers with disabilities are catered for in Benidorm, with wooden rams that reach right down the beach for easy wheel chair access, and there is a facility where waterproof wheelchairs can be hired for a dip in the ocean.

Other facilities include; Water sports of every description, children’s playgrounds, diving boards, rafts, drag line water ski-ing, paddle boats and canoes.

Poniente Beach

To the west of the town is the second main beach of the town. The beach is longer than Levante, at just over 3 kilometres, however it is much quieter than Playa Levante.

The waters here are just as clear, and the sands just as golden, but there are fewer facilities although you can of course still find a cold beer and ice cream within a couple of minutes walk from the waters edge.

Playa Mal Pas - Mal Pas Cove

Near the tiny harbour you will find the small and almost deserted Playa Mal Pas. This is a much smaller beach with very pleasant surroundings. This cove does not get many visitors due to the fact that they do not know of its existence.

As is the rule on most Spanish beaches, Dogs are not allowed on the beach.
