El Trenet from Alicante to Denia

The Alicante - Denia train line hugs the coastline for most of its 93km journey along the northern coastline of the Costa Blanca.

There are over 40 stops, serving most of the small towns along the coast, many of which are completly ignored by most tourists and offer a view of the real Spain.

There are 13 diesel trains which operate on the main - single track - line between Alicante and Denia, and a further 5 trams which run the section between Alicante and El Campello route. The whole route will be converted to trams over the next few years as the whole line goes through a modification process.

The original line was built between Alicante and Altea in 1914, and was extended later in 1918 to Denia. The line was later extended by a spur line in 2003 that runs from Postiguet beach in Alicante to El Campello.
