A walk to a cove
Today we propose a walking route to one of the most beautiful coves, Cala Sardinera in Jávea. The hike it takes to get to this cove is well worth it, because of the beautiful scenery we can enjoy. The walking route will take about 15 to 20 minutes, but there are plenty of places to stop and admire and discover the surrounding nature and wildlife.
This is one of the least accessible coves in Jávea with a terrain that is a bit mountainous and rocky. Therefore appropriate shoes are a must for this walk and because there is nothing but nature we advise you to bring your own refreshments.
The walking route starts at the Mirador de la Creu del Portitxol. A few meters from the start of the route there are some indicative signposts pointing towards several directions. Here we take a left turn to Cap Prim at these signs.
The complete walking route runs through the pine tree forest along a well-defined path with some steps.
We include the map of this route so you know where the path goes.
Cala Sardinera, Jávea
The beach of this little cove is not made of sand but of pebbles. So you best enjoy it wearing suitable bathing shoes. The water is clear and has beautiful underwater scenery. So bring your diving glasses and see for yourself.
This cove thanks its name to the fact that formerly they used this bay to fish for sardines. They used fine mazed nets that they emptied at sunset and sunrise.
It is a place with complicated access and because of that, it has remained practically unchanged over the years. There are only some houses next to the beach and a few more high on the cliff.
From this Cala Sardinera, there is a spectacular view of the bay of Jávea, the Montgó, and the San Antonio Cape.
If you are like us and you like to do some exploring and discovering, we recommend you to visit Cap Prim. Bring some food and drinks and just sit to relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the coast and the island of Portixol.
