Bring the bike up in the mountain
Guadalest can be traveled on foot or done as a bicycle route. Therefore we explain this bike route through Castell de Guadalest, as it is officially known. As a result, you can fully enjoy the experience in one of the most beautiful surroundings and discover more of Costa Blanca.
Starting point
First of all, we will leave the car in the parking lot in front of the tourist information point. At 50 meters, we find the Plaza de La Era, where we will begin our bike tour. Furthermore, this place is a quiet point without access to vehicles.
Views over Guadalest
For that reason, it is no problem to enjoy the views when meeting up before starting. From this point, we can observe the entire valley of Guadalest, with its typical pine trees. The Mediterranean sea appears in the background while we enjoy the typical scenery of this charming typical Mediterranean town.
From here we will take the Camino de Costeretes, which will lead us to the dam of the reservoir. When traveling with small children, you can leave your car at this point. For that reason, you avoid the climb to the town on the way back. But above all, it has limited space, so it is not recommended if it is not strictly necessary. Furthermore, it is also important to remember that this part of the route is open to traffic. Although it is correct that traffic on this road is limited.
The Reservoir of Guadalest
We will go around the reservoir counterclockwise. However, this tour can be done in both directions. As a result, you can play with the position of the sun, depending on the time of the year. Furthermore, this tour has no physical or technical difficulty. We will go around the reservoir without losing the town of Guadalest out of sight.
As soon as we cross the dam, we will leave the area known as La Solana to our right. At no time will we leave the asphalted road.
Halfway
As we move forward we will also enjoy the views of the municipalities of Benimantell and Beniardá. Once we arrive at the northwest end of the route, after 7,8 kilometers, we will cross the Guadalest River. After that, we will continue towards Beniardá. Another 500 meters into this access road to Beniardá we turn left. As a result, this track will take us back to the dam, through the place known as L’Ombria del Castell. Once we have reached this place the ascend to Guadalest is inevitable and the tour ends.
We hope you enjoy these routes as much as we do. If you want to make a comment or recommend a specific tour do not hesitate to comment.
